ETH Quietly Outran BTC This Week. Nobody Noticed.

Bitcoin is off 1.8% today at $76,937. The internet has feelings about it. Fine. Zoom out one week and the picture changes: BTC is up 22%, which is a fine result for the world's largest asset. It's also six full points behind ETH, which is up 28% in the same window and now sitting at $2,418. Nobody is writing that headline. We are writing it.

The rotation nobody's talking about

Every cycle has a moment where the ETH bulls stop making excuses and the chart just goes. This might be one. Layer 2 fees are down, staking yield is holding, and the "ETH is a monetary asset actually" crowd has been unusually quiet, which historically means they're right.

Meanwhile in the trending column: Zcash is up 9.5% today and just broke into the top 15 by market cap. ZEC at $794 is not a number we were expecting to type in 2026, but here we are. The privacy narrative is having its annual comeback tour and someone forgot to tell the ZEC bag holders they were supposed to stay defeated.

Also in today's trending on CoinGecko: PUMP up 24% (Pump.fun's platform token, memecoin degens are back), TRUMP hanging around the top of the trending list because of course, and PIPEDOG at rank 683 for reasons we do not need to interrogate.

What this looks like on the ground

BTC pausing at $77k after a 22% week is healthy. Nothing goes up in a straight line — well, ZEC does, apparently, but nothing sustainable does. If ETH holds above $2,400 into the weekend the "flippening trade" chatter starts, which is fun in the way that watching a slow-motion argument about a decade-old thesis is fun.

Trades to actually take: none from us. This is not financial advice. Bags to actually pack: ETH boxy tee while it's still cheaper to wear ETH than to hold it, Bitcoin logo hoodie because the pullback is a feature not a bug, Litecoin snapback because Litecoin does not care about any of the above and neither should you.

Prices are numbers on a screen. Merch is forever.
